i got together with my favorite kindian (i think her given name is kindra) for the first time in forever. after wandering around downtown looking for new ethnic restaurants, we ended up at thai sawadee on south temple eating pineapple and red curry. so yum! definitely have to go back soon. my dad and i will have to have an indian fix before i go to school because the most exotic food that rexburg has is gringo's, a mexican restaurant....and applebee's, which comes in a close second.
the same night was elton john night on american idol. what? first delicious food, then this? i love casey. if he doesn't win....well, i'll see to it that he does win. i have some personal pull with steven tyler, you know. i am one of those people who either votes for no one during the entire season or votes every week for one person, like, 450 times. (it's true, that's not a mythical number.) this season is of the latter. and i am pro-casey, full tilt. although...while casey is just all around darling, paul also has my heart with his megawatt smile and sexy rasp.
joseph and i had an excellent ski day yesterday. we found some new powdery runs and decided to shake it up by taking off our skis and hiking into a grove of trees to eat lunch. also, we had a sword fight on our last run with our poles. after examining my face last night, i sighed and told joseph this was probably the worst goggle burn i've ever had and he said, outraged, "don't you mean THE BEST?!?!?!"
speaking of joseph, i have to relay a story that makes me sad i can't tell it from a first hand account. this is hands down the best part of my week. so joseph had his first singing gig at a restaurant the other night with his friend, seth. they were driving downtown with all their equipment in the car and stopped at a red light. seth's window was rolled down and this guy pulled up next to them with his window rolled down. this guy sat there for a minute and then whipped out a harmonica and started playing- you know, traffic light boredom, i guess. then he stopped. seth looked over, pulled out his harmonica and started playing "piano man" (it's one of their numbers). the guy looked over, startled, and when seth stopped, he started playing again, which resulted in a full blown, heated harmonica war.
hello...does that make you want to buy a harmonica so you can pull it out of your pocket and play at red lights? because once i stopped shaking uncontrollably after hearing the harmonica incident, joseph and i looked at prices at guitar center and vowed to go back with some money.
what will next week bring? i don't know but.....we we we so excited!
i can see it now...the ely's with their harmonicas traveling the nation stopping only at red lights. love this post. especially we we we so excited...because you know tomorrow is saturday and sunday comes afterwords.
